TS16
TS16 SAILING AT DRUMMOYNE
TS16s, also known as Hartleys, race most Saturday afternoons from September to April, with a break over Christmas and the occasional rest days when large-scale events are held at the club. The races commence at 2pm, and are usually well over by 5pm.
The courses are triangular, going around Snapper and Spectacle Islands, and depending on the wind, around Cockatoo Island, as far as Mann’s Point, or down to Huntley’s Point.
The TS16 sailors are friendly but that doesn’t blunt their competitive edge. Some have sailed for decades, others had never sailed until they stepped into a TS16. TS16 sailors range in age from their twenties to their seventies.
If you are interested in learning about the fleet, come down to the club on a Saturday before 12pm and meet some of the sailors. There are also frequent opportunities to crew.

SCRATCH START FOR RACE 18 2022
Race 18
The last race of the season, was a scratch start.
There were morning showers and the afternoon, once again, looked like it would bring rain, but it lifted in time for the race. The wind was E/NE, around 8 knots, and it was an ebb tide, exacerbated by the run-off from the heavy rainfall during the week.
Once again Totally Sinister, Craig Jelfs and Neil Bilsborough, Tranquil, Neil Johnson and Brett Pollit, and Uncle Norm, Eric Partland and Gary Wills, battled for the lead for most of the race, with Hirondelle, Peter Barnes and Geoff Smith, running fourth. The Johnston family fleet, Annette, Ron Johnston and Ben Speed, Murphy’s Law, David Johnston and Kate Thompson, and Vinca, Russell Johnson and Joe Horinek, just about ran their own race between them.
Totally Sinister, the scratch boat and club champion, crossed line first. Tranquil rounded the last buoy barely ahead of Uncle Norm, but Uncle Norm on the windward side, overtook Tranquil and crossed the line second. Tranquil was third, followed by Hirondelle, Murphy’s Law, Annette and Vinca.
Uncle Norm won the handicap, Tranquil was second and Totally Sinister third.
